We've all heard of the Big Bang Theory - well it's no theory, it’s a fact, there’s going to be lots of big bangs going off over the August Bank Holiday in Dunchurch with the return of the Tanks Trucks & Firepower Show.

This exciting show is definitely the loudest – and most fun show of the year as hundreds of tanks make their way through Warwickshire country lanes to take their place in what is one of the largest tank arenas in the UK.

As ever, this 3-day event promises to be a long weekend of thrills and excitement, a unique opportunity to see hundreds of privately owned and restored military vehicles being put through their paces – in some instances staging impressive demonstrations of the tasks they were originally built for.

In the central arena, visitors can get up close to these armoured vehicles, trucks and tanks, talk to their owners and learn the vehicles’ history and the part they played in combat around the world.

There’s also plenty of opportunities to do some retail therapy with dozens of stalls to browse selling items to interest all the family including surplus military clothing and collectables. Lots going on for the kids too with fairground rides and fun activities, including – especially for the little ones a battle arena where they can practice their skills as well as airsoft ranges.

Reenactment groups will be setting up camps all around the main arena, providing an opportunity for visitors to see what life was like in the trenches. Plus there will be realistic battle reenactments going on over the weekend as British soldiers come face to face with a German attack, plus reminders of the role of the Red Cross.

A variety of organisations will be represented at the show such as the territorial army.  So for anyone thinking of joining the TA, this is a perfect opportunity to find out more.

A whole programme of events are set out over the three days, and it’s a good idea to take your own chair, so you don’t miss anything. Amongst the highlights are the midday guns, helicopters, battle reenactments, WW2 battle with tanks, firepower displays, military motorcycles, tank stunt driving, tank vs tank battles, WW2 aircraft displays – you can even take a ride in a British Army CVR(T) tank. No need to book, and price announced on the day.

The show is all set up for the thousands of visitors, there’s ample free parking, lots of toilet facilities, and a great range of street food outlets, with just about every type of cuisine on offer: Indian, Chinese, Greek, Italian, the ever popular fish and chips, doughnuts, ice cream, beer, teas & coffees, soft drinks, and lots more besides.

For those wanting to make a weekend of it, camping is available, and unless they have all been snapped up, some glamping tents too. The camping area is equipped with authentic military shower blocks and barbecues.

Visitors to the Monday show will also enjoy the Classic Car Clubs and other exciting vehicles to admire. And as usual the ever popular Our Tim will be comparing the whole show.

Tickets can be booked in advance via the website, or you can pay on the gate. https://tanks-trucks-and-firepower.co.uk/
