The 39 Steps at The Priory Theatre, Kenilworth, from 16 - 24 May 2025. Directed by John Evans.

Preview.

The Priory Theatre on Rosemary Hill in Kenilworth will be stepping into the world of spies and heroic deeds with its latest production, The 39 Steps.

Mixing a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel and a dash of Monty Python, The 39 Steps is a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is a wonderfully inventive and gripping comedy thriller featuring four fearless actors, playing 139 roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrills.

Follow the incredible adventures of handsome hero Richard Hannay, complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women.

Director John Evans, a Priory veteran of nearly 60 years states: “Having directed over 25 plays since joining the Priory this has certainly been an unusual play to direct. It’s style and writing makes it both fast moving and funny. I am delighted that I have four such talented actors who have been able to rise to the challenge!”

The play runs from Friday 16 May to Saturday 24 May (including a 2.30pm Matinee on Saturday 17 May).
