The tent is going up in Stratford this November as Stratford Musical Theatre Company brings The Great British Bake Off Musical to Rother Street Arts House, from 4-7 November 2026.

Fans of the television series will find plenty to recognise, from ambitious showstoppers and last-minute panics to the anxious wait for the judges’ verdict. This time, though, the bakers have songs to learn as well as recipes.

Paul Stacey plays Phil Hollinghurst, alongside Angela Minto as Pam Lee - a judging partnership that Bake Off viewers may find rather familiar. Hoping to impress them is a cast of bakers with very different personalities, reasons for entering and ideas about what makes a winning bake.

Keeping everyone company through the triumphs and soggy bottoms are presenters Jim and Kim, played by Paul Reeve and Katie Merrygold-Wood. While the competition provides plenty of comedy, it is the bakers and their friendships that give the show its heart. As they get to know one another, the tent becomes somewhere to find support, start again and discover a little more confidence.

David Hopkins, who plays aeronautical engineer and baking fanatic, Russell said: “Being part of such an accomplished, friendly and funny group has been an absolute treat - the perfect mix of talent, warmth and wit. Rehearsals have been a joy, with plenty of laughter and just a little awe on my part at the talent around me! Audiences can look forward to a slice of feel-good fun, packed with toe-tapping, beautifully sung numbers and plenty of heart beneath the icing. Bake Off takes you on a surprisingly emotional journey, and I can’t wait to help serve it up on stage!”

The production is directed by Judi Walton, with musical direction by David Llewelyn-Jones and choreography by Becky Farrell. Together with the cast, musicians and backstage team, they are preparing to bring all the bustle of the baking tent to the Stratford stage.

Following Footloose in 2024 and Annie in 2025, SMTC looks forward to welcoming audiences back for an evening of baking rivalry, unlikely friendships and some very strong opinions about cake.

The Great British Bake Off Musical runs from 4-7 November 2026 at Stratford Arts House, Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon.
