Brainiac Live at The Belgrade Theatre, 20 June 2026.

Review by Jan Malatesta

The Belgrade once again, welcomed Brainiac Live, based on the well-known TV show, for a momentous and awe-inspiring science spectacular.

The show was energetic and fast-paced, with enthusiastic audience participation, ear-splitting sound effects, and plenty of loud explosive bangs. Our high-spirited presenters – Ned, Taz, Raz, and Dave the Handyman – entertained us with hydrogen balloon explosions, liquid nitrogen clouds, daredevil stunts, and fascinating facts about inventors.

Clear explanations accompanied each experiment, along with plenty of warnings to cover our ears before the louder demonstrations – although that still didn’t stop me jumping out of my chair!

There was never a dull moment. The use of screens and graphics between the live experiments, featuring Brain Burners and interactive segments, kept everyone entertained while preparations were made for the next hair-brained experiment. The visuals and equipment were bright, colourful, and engaging, and there wasn’t a child – or grown-up – who wasn’t completely captivated by the show.

My grandson loved every minute, particularly the CO₂-powered swivel chair experiment. Mine will never be the same again!

This was a great short, sharp, fun-filled hour packed with facts, excitement, and laughter. Whether you’re a STEM fanatic or simply looking for an entertaining family outing, Brainiac Live is a fantastic show for all the family, children 5+.
