Blithe Spirit – Priory Theatre Kenilworth – 10 to 18 February 2023

When novelist Charles Condomime invites eccentric medium Madame Arcati to perform a séance at his home, he finds himself haunted – literally – by the blithe spirit of his first wife Elvira. Visible only to him, and extremely audible, Elvira has only one intention: to sabotage his current marriage to Ruth so that she can have Charles all to herself. But will she succeed…?

Written by the inimitable Noël Coward, this much loved comedy classic is no stranger to the Priory Theatre stage. This will mark the fourth occasion in the theatre’s 90 year history that Blithe Spirit has been produced and the second to be directed by Adam Schumacher. Having last directed it back in 1997, the current cast of seven also features two performers from the previous production! But in very different roles. Esther Taylor will be hanging up her maid’s costume to take on the formidable role of second wife Ruth whilst Stuart Lawson, who originally played Charles, will be appearing as Dr Bradman.

Blithe Spirit has all the comedic ingredients for a spectacular evening of supernatural skulduggery and is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Graham Shurvinton who played Dr Bradman in the 1997 production.
