The people of Coventry will take over Warwick Arts Centre for a day of discovery. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a series of workshops, performances, readings and more from some of Coventry's most talented creatives from 11.30am to 4.30pm. Expect music, dance, storytelling, workshops and more. Admission free!

Highlights include new dance pieces courtesy of Imagineer Productions and Warwick Arts Centre's own elders contemporary dance company Out Of Whack, while Unlock Theatre present a rehearsed reading of local playwright Nicole Lockwood-West's The Lost Lionesses - the award-winning play based on the true story of England's 1971 Women's World Cup squad.

Drag artists  Ibi Profane and Bambi Bang Bang  also read a series of inclusive stories suitable for ages 5-8, Coventry Poet Laureate Andrea Mbarushimana and Denisse Levermore invite visitors to contribute to a reflective interactive 'brain' installation, and there's drop-in creative workshops with upcyclers RE(YOU)S and animator Josh Leach.

Plus live music from multi-instrumentalist Jude Rees, aka Madrigirl, who combines ancient instruments with modern tech, and alternative R&B/soul artist Nyotaa Izeidi and Tropical Harmony, while acoustic duo ReignTheGirlBand showcase material from their forthcoming debut EP.

The takeover day is the result of an open call-out to Coventry creatives earlier in the year for activities and performances inspired by Warwick Arts Centre's autumn/winter season theme, Handle With Care!

Doreen Foster, Warwick Arts Centre’s Director, said: "Warwick Arts Centre has always played an important role in the lives of the people around us, so we're excited to open our doors for a second People’s Takeover event - a chance for communities to make and showcase reflective, exciting and energising work in our spaces. From drawing and clay animation workshops, to soulful music and raw dance performances, it’s going to be an exciting day of creativity, comfort and connection.”
