Netherthere at Lighthorne

Lighthorne Drama Group present Netherthere, written and directed by Steve Farr at The Lighthorne Village Hall, from Wednesday 2 December to Saturday 5 December 2026.

Preview by Charles Essex

Netherthere, written and directed by Steve Farr, is a tour around the eponymous village, influenced by the style of Under Milk Wood.

Many short episodic scenes cascade together to show the humorous dysfunctionalities at the heart of a modern English village. Addictions, divorce, illness, Neighbourhood Watch, and the overwhelming passion of secret love.

At the centre of village life is the Tequila Mockingbird pub, which holds a pub quiz, ostensibly for charity.  However, tensions run high as competitive streaks come to the fore, with every man – or woman – and their dog being obsessed with the quiz.

All this explodes together to illuminate the reality of a 21st Century English village with numerous characters coming together with their foibles and eccentricities.
