Enjoy a unique evening’s entertainment with comedian Joel Sanders aka Angry Boater, when he brings his show to the Bear Pit Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.
Many people will recognise Joel from Channel 4’s Series 2 of the popular Narrow Escapes programme when he took his narrowboat out onto the sea in the middle of the night.
Joel has lived on a canal boat for 15 years, prior to which he was a comedian touring the US with the plan being the first Brit to gig in all 50 states – he managed 40!

“I’ve performed everywhere from redneck bars across the Deep South to the casinos of Las Vegas and worked with many of my comedy heroes, including Robin Williams,” says Joel. “When I swapped Vegas et al for the UK’s waterways, I started to develop Angry Boater.”
Leaving behind his successful stand-up career in the US, he followed his dream to live his life on a narrowboat. What followed was a hilariously unpredictable journey through the UK’s waterways – and through life!
Angry Boater is a smart, sharp and totally original evening of stand-up, storytelling and brutally honest reflections on chasing dreams, letting go of everything you know and floating into the unknown.
“I took the show to Edinburgh several times,” he added. “The rest of the year I would typically arrange last minute shows at venues near the canal wherever I happened to be moored.”
This is his first proper tour of Angry Boater and the first time the show will have been seen in Stratford-upon-Avon. Be sure not to miss it!
