This festive season, Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm is set to sparkle with an extraordinary sight, an abundance of dazzling ‘Blue Morpho’ butterflies. Known for their iridescent, shimmering wings, the Blue Morpho is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful butterfly species in the world! Visitors will be able to experience them in greater numbers than ever throughout the Christmas period.

From mid-December through the New Year, the Butterfly Farm’s tropical rainforest environment will come alive with these magnificent butterflies as they gracefully fly among the lush foliage. The butterflies, which originate from the tropical forests of Latin America from Mexico to Colombia, are among the largest butterflies in the world, with wings spanning from 12 – 20cm!

Visitors can also explore the Discovery Zone, Minibeast Metropolis, Rainforest Realm and meet a wide array of tropical creatures, and enjoy the warm, humid climate, the perfect escape from winter’s chill. With temperatures of 25°C, the popular family attraction is the ideal place to enjoy a fabulous day out and escape the cold and wet.

From 20 - 24 December and 27 December - 5 January, visitors can take part in ‘Meet the Minibeasts’ and ‘Butterfly Lifecycle’ demonstrations. These will take place daily at 11am in the Discovery Zone, hosted by the friendly and informative team of Education Officers. Visitors will be able to get close to a variety of stick insects and discover the amazing life cycle of a butterfly at every stage from egg to adult.

Jane Kendrick, Marketing Manager at Stratford Butterfly Farm said, “We’re delighted to have the stunning Blue Morpho reside at the Butterfly Farm this Christmas! Their brilliant electric-blue wings provide a magical backdrop for a festive family day out, offering a unique alternative to traditional Christmas activities!”
