Playbox Theatre unveils its Autumn Season 2025 – a moving and thrilling trio of productions that celebrate beloved stories, bold reinvention, and festive magic. This season showcases the power of live performance to touch hearts, challenge minds, and bring audiences of all ages together.
GOODNIGHT MISTER TOM
September 2025 Directed by Mary King
Opening the season is a much-loved modern classic – Goodnight Mister Tom, Michelle Magorian’s poignant tale of friendship, healing, and resilience during the outbreak of the Second World War. From blitzed London to the peace of the English countryside, this moving story explores love, loss, and the importance of those we hold close. Mary King directs a large ensemble in a beautifully staged production that has struck a deep chord with generations of young people.

ELECTRA
November 2025 Adapted from Sophocles. Directed by Emily Quash
Long awaited and now realised, Electra explodes onto the stage in November. Sophocles’ brutal and poetic tragedy is reimagined for our time by Emily Quash in a stark, urgent new production that examines grief, justice, and the fury of the dispossessed. After years on the company’s wish list, Electra promises to be one of the most talked-about events of the season – ancient and contemporary, raw and riveting.

Expect dazzling visuals, unforgettable songs, and golden tickets galore in this seasonal treat for all ages. Following 26 years of sell-out Christmas productions, this is set to be Playbox’s most magical yet.
