Oliver Twist - a new adaptation

Oliver Twist, a new adaptation by Tony Peters of the classic Charles Dickens novel. This is an In2Theatre production running at The Bear Pit Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon on Thursday 29 June at 7.30pm, and Saturday 1 July at 3pm and 6.30pm.

The Victorian underworld meets steam punk! Follow the fortunes of the orphan Oliver Twist as he runs away from the Workhouse to London in search of a better life but falls in with Fagin's gang of pickpockets and is drawn into a life of crime. Join the regulars at the Old Bull and Bush tavern as they tell this well-known story and sing popular Music Hall songs, in a bold and exciting production with live piano music and puppetry.

Costumes are nearly ready!

Their aim is to produce outstanding and original theatre performed entirely by their disabled participants, with non-disabled supporters working on backstage functions only.

Under the guidance of Tony Peter, Artistic Director and their team of volunteers, they provide the opportunity to perform to the public and take part in local events. They work to improve skills, develop characterisation and improvisation, learn voice and singing techniques, play drama games, engage in role play as well as rhythm, rhyme, music, dance – and lots more.

Artistic Director Tony Peters says, “In2Theatre organise regular drama activity sessions for disabled people, to develop skills, promote group working, build confidence and raise self-esteem. Every member is encouraged to perform and contribute at their own personal highest level, giving them an opportunity to prove themselves to their non-disabled peers. Our aim is to harness the various gifts and abilities of the group, giving them a platform to shine, and achieve their full potential.”

Tickets are £8 with disabled concession £6. Call The Bear Pit Box Office 01789 333935 or online: www.thebearpit.org.uk
