It’s almost time for the MCM Comic Con event at the Birmingham NEC! It’s the place to be if you enjoy TV, films, gaming, Manga, all things nerdy and of course cosplay!
Held over three days, it’s always a fabulously fun show where you get to dress up as your favourite character - or enjoy the impressive costumes worn by others. Check out the line-up of celebrity guests; prepare to sit in on panels and talks – and enjoy the host of entertainment that ranges from live music to live wrestling.
Don’t miss The Ministry of Steampunk. They will have an area where you can discover seasoned costume makers and TV/Film professionals. Visit their booth for the chance to see your favourite character costumes and props, immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Steampunk, and maybe even purchase your first Steampunk accessory!
Artists Alley is the area to explore to find a host of talented independent artists and comic creators. And Writers Block is where you'll discover all things bookish. Meet authors, discover new books and new heroes and villains.
Ghostbusters will be there, all kitted out in their authentic Ghostbusting attire and happy to chat about their fund-raising activities. You can also learn swordcraft with Silver Sabres Combat Academy. There’s also The Puppet Folk Experience which will be bringing a celebration tribute show combining acoustic music and beautifully created puppetry.
The Forest Glade is a mystical and immersive LARP area nestled within the heart of the convention. Step into this enchanted clearing and find yourself transported to a realm of magic, monsters and adventure! Let an experienced team lead you on epic quests, thrilling battles, and lively role-playing interactions. Whether you're a seasoned LARPer or a novice explorer, there's something for everyone to discover in "The Forest Glade."
A major part of Comic Con is Cosplay Central – on stage will be a host of panels covering all things cosplay from choosing the best wig to advice on competing in cosplay competitions – and much more.
The Gaming zone has everything from tabletop to console gaming. Pop Asia has everything from workshops to musical performances. And for families with young children, there’s Kids Crafting all weekend with family interactive sessions, entertaining performances, crafting, face painting and more – including a chill out area for when you just need a few minutes peace and quiet!
There will be a massive array of exhibitors selling unique items such as jewellery, accessories, TV and film replicas, games, toys, collectables, clothing, photographs, autographs, posters, badges and more. While over at The Hangout you can try your hand at a variety of crafts.
Should your dream be to make something iconic, then head over to Project Dalek. They want to see more Daleks in the world – scale models or full-sized! Visit Project Dalek for a look at their Daleks and other villainous builds from across the Doctor Who universe.
There will be some high energy action when Birmingham UKPW bring live pro wrestling to MCM Comic Con. Fans can see live wrestling matches inside the ring, meet the wrestlers, take photos with real championship belts, and get involved with interactive fun at the stand.
Enjoy all things nerdy on the MCM Fringe Stage, with live music, comedy, dance, interactivity and entertainment. (Hall 5); and the Meet and Greet Zone. There’s a great line-up of guests but check the website to make sure your favourite is there on the day you’re going. You can also check on the cost of autographs, photographs and selfies with your favourite celebrity.
