This festive season, Playbox Theatre is bringing the magic of Roald Dahl's beloved classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Musical, to The Dream Factory in Warwick.
This spectacular production is the perfect treat for families of all ages, promising an unforgettable experience that will leave you singing "Pure Imagination".
Directed by Juliet Vankay, who recently delighted audiences with The Who's Tommy, this production features a talented cast of young performers from Playbox Musical Theatre programme and across the company, drawn from the entire region.
Heather Hampson choreographs the dazzling dance numbers, while Richard Norris provides Musical Direction. Lighting design is by Noel Byrne, Director of Box Tale Soup Theatre and Playbox alum.
The Christmas atmosphere is already brewing at The Dream Factory, with a giant Christmas tree supplied by East Chase Farm Christmas Trees, Kenilworth, set to sparkle in the foyer. Throughout December visitors, families and members can also enjoy carols, festive showcase presentations, and a special visit from Father Christmas!
Christmas 2025 sees us heading into Playbox’s 40th year, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the perfect launchpad for a year of celebrations!
Director Juliet Vankay says: “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has always been one of my favourite stories—perhaps because, as anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m a complete chocoholic! When the Playbox directors began discussing what musical to stage for Christmas, this was the very first one that came to mind. It’s such a magical tale—bursting with imagination, humour, and heart—and one that truly brings generations together. There’s something in it for everyone: wonder for the children, nostalgia for the grown-ups, and a reminder for us all to hold on to kindness and curiosity. Above all, it’s a joyous celebration of theatre, family, and, of course, chocolate.
