If you’re wondering what to do in between Christmas and New Year, why not head over to Hatton Country World, where there’s adventures galore for the family to enjoy.

Critter Carnival runs from 27 December to 8 January 2024 with animals, action and adventure plus a huge range of undercover activities that will keep the kids happy. There are shows and demonstrations every day such as meeting, grooming and feeding the resident guinea pigs; you could also marvel at the Falconry Display held twice daily; help groom the ponies and see the little creatures at Paws, Claws and Whiskers.

You can also learn all about reptiles and feed the farm animals; take in the Family Show that's held four times daily, or have fun at Superslide Mania and on the fun-fair rides. Hatton has over 450 creatures, 60 different breeds and species and the whole adventure world is set in 100 acres of countryside. Whatever the weather there’s a daily programme of fun and activities to keep the family entertained.

During term-time weekdays, little ones can listen to Storytime with Snorty the Pig – the well-loved giant mascot at Hatton, and there’s a brand new children’s book published, entitled ‘Magical Happenings at Hatton Country World’, which has been aided and abetted by Arabella Arkwright, co-owner of Hatton.

Importantly, each story has a moral and lesson for children to learn.  Three of the Staff at Hatton are featured within the book - Farm Park Manager Richard Craddock, Farm Park Assistant Manager Alice Latham, and Farm assistants Wiz & Mr Holly. The book also features lots of the farmyard characters, including one of the guinea pigs ‘Randy Jr’, who is the son of the world-famous ‘Randy’ guinea pig who fathered 400 children when he somehow got into the female pen!

Arabella Arkwright said, “Snorty and I are delighted to launch our first children’s book! Snorty loves reading stories to pre-school children, so it made complete sense for Snorty to write his own book based at Hatton with staff and farmyard characters that children will recognize from their adventures here. All the great children’s stories have a moral, and from each of our stories there is a lesson to be learnt. This gives Snorty and I particular pleasure and makes the book a thoroughly worthy present.”

Over at Hatton World there’s the Shopping Village and the Garden Centre to explore, or book an adventure in the Escape Rooms. You could enjoy a drink and a meal at the Hatton Arms; take a leisurely walk and explore the Locks. Or indulge yourself with a treatment at one of the health and wellness businesses at Hatton.

The lights display will captivate your imagination and bring the magic of the festive season alive for young and old alike. Follow the off-road trail under the glow of the moon and wander through the enchanting woodland. Indulge yourself along the way with an array of festive food and drinks, from marshmallow toasting to mulled wine, hot chocolate and more.

You could even treat the family to a Drive-In festive film at the Cinema Diner. Book for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Paddington, Shrek, Top Gun Maverick and The Notebook. Enjoy sipping hot chocolate to sharing laughter and love, Hatton’s Christmas drive-in cinema is where cherished memories are made.
