‘Class of ‘99’ all set for summer school at The Talisman Theatre!

 The Made In 48 Hours gang are back taking over the Talisman Theatre, Kenilworth, for their one night only performance on Sunday 28 July.

After last year’s sell out show, ‘Jekyll and Hyde’, this year’s offering ‘Class of ‘99” is inspired by hit 90’s TV shows and films and promises a night of peer pressure, pimples and proms. Join the team as they take you on a journey of 90’s teenage angst, school dances and ridiculous schemes.

Yet again the team will be attempting the seemingly impossible: - learning lines, rehearsing dance moves, finding costumes, putting up the set and delivering a rip-roaring comedy in just two days. Those with a nose for on-the- edge drama are in for another evening of entertainment and hilarity as the company try to make it through the play without forgetting their lines, bumping into each other, or falling over the set - all under the watchful eye of director Jo Gough.

Made in 48 Hours has been organising these productions on an annual basis since 1999, when the concept was born, whilst Sam Harris and her husband James, were at university in Sheffield. Mrs Harris says, “We started out with just a combined cast and crew of ten and it’s wonderful that we’re not only still going, but also to see how much we’ve grown over the years. I have never been able to work out how the cast manage to learn their lines so quickly.

"It’s amazing what you can retain, but sometimes people forget things and have to get themselves out of it, which always seems to give the audience a good laugh. Once again, we are excited to be back at the Talisman Theatre, which we consider our spiritual home and as always, are extremely grateful for their help and support.”

As with previous years, the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity and this year’s show will be in aid of Young People First. Jo Squires from Young People First says, “Young People First are delighted to be the fundraising partner for the Made in 48 Hours production this year. Working with young people on a daily basis, we know how valuable and fun creative experiences such as this can be, and we can’t wait to see the end result. We spend our time working with young people and their families who are living with disadvantage in the South Leamington area.”
