Still time to visit the Open 2022 Exhibition

The Open 2022 exhibition at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum ends Sunday 8th January 2023

Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum has been delighted by the success of the Open 2022, an exciting exhibition providing a showcase for artists living and working in the West Midlands.

Last seen in 2019, the Open has been a regular and popular feature of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum’s programme since the 1930s. Open 2022 has been an eclectic mix of artistic forms, featuring, amongst others, sculpture, photography, installation pieces, computer generated imagery and textiles.

Any artist over the age of 18 living in the West Midlands was eligible to enter, and Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum was inundated with submissions from local talent. Ever since, the artists fortunate enough to be selected have had their artworks scrutinised by visitors to the exhibition, who have been casting votes for their favourites.

Visitors can now see for themselves which artwork has taken Leamington by storm as ‘Moment of Inertia’ by Gavin Bowyer has been selected as the winner of the ‘People’s Choice Award’. Gavin will receive a £500 prize, for winning the much sought-after award. The People’s Choice Award also gives visitors the chance to see how their art critic credentials match up to the professionals, who named ‘Playlist’ by Mark Elsmore the Open 2022 winner. This prestigious title came with a £1000 grand prize, and a spotlight exhibition in Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum which will be unveiled in 2023.
