Priory Theatre, Kenilworth, panto review: Cinderella

Cinderella, Priory Theatre, Kenilworth, to Jan 2.

By Jan Malatesta

Will Cinders make it to the ball? Oh, yes, she will! And with immense style and pazazz!

This was a Christmas night to remember with a knee-slapping performance. This was our five-year old's first panto experience and it did not disappoint - cue chortles of laughter, squeals of delight and horror at the Baroness and her ugly daughters' escapades.

There were outstanding performances from Owen Prosser Stock as Buttons (if only that energy could be bottled!); Amanda Dodd, with her malevolent laughter and beautiful voice, as

the Baroness, and the Ugly Sisters played by Simon Lucas and Jack Gamble.

There was lots of audience participation, even with masks, and the set and costumes were exceptional. With the whole cast on stage, it was spectacular.

It was great to see the panto back after a year’s break, and a huge amount of work has clearly gone into this show. Its joyous delivery was contagious and cascaded down to the audience - as did

a foam pie or two!

We will be hearing about this for the rest of the Christmas holidays from our five-year-old Tommy, who has already put in a request to return.
