A talent-packed ‘Second Sunday’ concert is planned for the evening of 12 January 2025 in the Albany Theatre Studio. The wonderful Warwickshire band, Alkevan are back as headliners and, for this special occasion, they’ll be appearing with an impressive line-up of guest musicians.
Alkevan has materialised from popular acts, The Harvey Band, and Tanglefoot UK. The trio is known for well-crafted and engaging self-penned songs performed with lush harmonies and skilful backing on guitar, bass and bodhran. For this show, the line-up of Kevin Moffat, Alan Harvey and Richard Norris is complemented by some ace violin playing by Matilda Harvey.
They’re also bringing a cohort of leading lights from the Leamington and Warwick music scene - Bill Bates, Rupe Barthakur, Esmé Pathare and Paul Edwards. Each artist will be playing a short set of their own, in most cases with accompaniment by some or all of the guest band. To add to the musical mix, there’s a set of lively and original blues-based material by CVFolk regular and Coventry rising star Jamie Scott.
Alkevan’s own set will finish with a full-on arrangement of one of their popular songs, performed by band and guest acts on stage together. It’s shaping up to be a fabulous evening; doors open 7pm for a 7.30 start and admission is free, although there will be the usual ‘caddy collection’ during the interval, so please bring your spare banknotes!
It’s also a bit of a special evening, as this will be last of CVFolk’s ’Second Sunday’ events. They thank everyone who has attended and supported an excellent run of monthly shows and sessions over the last five years.
