Before the Fringe - Triple bill at Ilmington Village Hall (2 May) and Tysoe Village Hall (17 May).
Preview
Playwright Ben Keyser’s theatre company Broadly Speaking Productions is putting on a triple bill of his one act plays before transferring to the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
On Saturday 2 May at Ilmington Village Hall, Ben’s play Pigeon Syndrome, which has won numerous awards for Best in Festival and Best Original Play at several one act play festivals in 2026, leads a trio of short plays which are both funny and poignant, touching on relationships and people’s eternal desire for ‘connection’.
Ben uses actors from the Kineton Amateur Dramatic Society, where he has both acted and directed. He is able to call on the services of Dave Candy, one of the best comedy actors in South Warwickshire, whose great timing and delivery are the backbone of this play. Charlotte Ledger and Chris Cherry, two very talented actors in their own right from the amateur theatre scene, take accomplished roles in these plays.
In the Beans is a two-hander which takes place in a café, as the owner and a customer are at pivotal points in their lives. A cleaner and the manager swap places in Mop and Bucket to see if each can do a better job than the other.
Ben is taking the triple bill to The Edinburgh Fringe 17-22 August, so this is a great opportunity to see these plays locally and say “I saw them here before they were famous!”
