Belgrade shows go online for the lockdown

Coventry's Belgrade Theatre has launched an online programme of activity to inspire and entertain its audiences while its doors are closed. Between Stages offers access to last year's acclaimed Wise Children production, which is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer as part of the BBC's Culture in Quarantine programme.

The theatre's recent adaptation of the novel Crongton Knights, its national tour sadly cut short by the lockdown, is available too on Between Stages (belgrade.co.uk/between stages), while partners Original Theatre Company and Oddsocks, both of whom were due to bring new productions to the theatre, are also streaming recent productions as part of the programme. For younger audiences, Honalee Media are streaming a number of their popular pre-school shows for free, while Belgrade panto stars Iain Laughlan and Craig Hollingsworth present their own original children's series, Cheeky Chimps TV.

B'Opera are continuing to share live singing sessions and regular song videos via Facebook, and every Tuesday, at 2.30pm, the Belgrade will be sharing new Storytime videos, featuring a mix of Belgrade staff and guest storytellers. Between Stages is also offering an online preview of its Generations exhibition which features photography shining a light on Coventry's Roma travellercommunity, weekly craft tutorials in a Monday Makes slot and a Weducation programme that aims to offer a series of behind-the-scenes insights into the workings of a theatre.

Through a series of podcasts, blogs and videos, it will also be possible to get to know a little better the Belgrade's 2021 co-artistic directors. The theatre's intention is to update the online content hub weekly. So keep watching!
