Magical show has audience spellbound

Aladdin, Bedworth Civic Hall, to Dec 29.

What a magical night at the Bedworth Civic Hall. Not only were the children in the audience spellbound, but the adults felt a sprinkling of stardust too.

Christian James as Aladdin and Rebecca Bailey as Princess Jasmine played their parts to perfection as did the rest of the cast. But, for me, the star of the show had to be Widow Twankey, brilliantly played by Anthony Williamson. The music and songs flowed and the jokes just kept on coming. The two children with me, aged six and 10, were mesmerised by it all. They sang along, waving their light-up lasers in the air. They understood and laughed at most of the jokes. The puppet display in the second half was outstanding and very funny. Magic carpets flew through the air, dragons sang and caterpillars danced. The audience loved it. The stage sets and costumes were superb, and the dancers a joy to watch. The children were awe-struck when the dancers, and some of the cast, performed in the aisles. The special effects were amazing and the fireworks at the end were a great touch. The warm, feel-good show was an absolute delight, and one I would certainly recommend...Oh yes I would!

Well done to the cast and crew for a very enjoyable evening.
