Tribute pair get audience dancing

Islands In The Stream – The Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers Story, Belgrade, one night only. I left my 9 to 5 troubles at home and celebrated the music of the King & Queen of Country, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

The tribute stars belted out an evening full of great hits such as Jolene, The Gambler, Coat of Many Colours, Coward of the County, Lucille, Blue Smoke and Love is like a Butterfly. From the opening song, Islands in the Stream, to the encore, the Dolly and Ken look and sound-alikes took the rapturous audience on a rollercoaster of emotional and uplifting ballads. Accompanied by a six-piece band, we were treated to amazing vocals and a witty, gentle humour along the way.

By the second half, we were dancing in the aisles. As the real Dolly famously said, "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap", and the costumes and make-up of the tribute Dolly were a wow. Not to be outdone by her energetic performance, Kenny, sounding almost like the real thing, encouraged the audience to sing along with the songs. Truly a convert to the Dolly and Kenny brand of country & western, I for one will be back next year to see this show again!
