This Swan Lake is a magical treat
Swan Lake, Russian State Ballet, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, October 23 only.
The Russian State Ballet opened their three-night stint at the Belgrade with this wonderful performance of the much-loved Swan Lake.
It was wonderful to see one of the world's finest ballet companies on stage and, not surprisingly, they wowed the audience with this tragic love story of Prince Siegfried and Odette who is transformed into a swan by an evil curse.
The story mixes romance, tragedy and magic. The dancing of course is exquisite and the 30-stong orchestra plays the gorgeous music wonderfully.
It's no wonder that audiences flock back to see Swan Lake time and time again. The Belgrade audience walked out into a dark, late October evening knowing they had had a real treat.
Tonight (October 24) the Russian State Ballet performs The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, at the Belgrade, and on Wednesday, October 25, they perform Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.
