Sheeran to play free concert in Coventry

Pop star Ed Sheeran is to perform a free concert in Coventry.

Sheeran, one of the world's biggest stars, will perform to 700 fans, aged over 18, to mark the opening of HMV Empire in Hertford Street.

The concert on August 25, is also part of celebrations for HMV's centenary. Tickets will be issued in a free draw.

Sheeran said: "HMV is a store that I spent a lot of time in growing up and a place where I discovered lots of new music, so I'm looking forward to celebrating this milestone with them."

People can register on the firm's website from 08:00 BST to be entered in the draw to receive tickets.

Sherran's new single, Bad Habits, is at number 1.

The Empire was in Far Gosford Street until it closed down to make way for student flats. The new venue is where ABC cinema used to be and it has undergone a £500,000 redevelopment.
