Your opportunity to see the Orchestra of the Swan. A preview by Anne Cee.

Thursday 12th January 2023, Orchestra of the Swan, “Enigma – An English Mystery”, Warwick Hall, Warwick

Thursday 19th January 2023, Orchestra of the Swan, “Friends Soirée” Stratford Town Hall

Orchestra of the Swan are drawing us into the new year with two delicious treats. The first is a chance to hear acclaimed baritone, Roderick Williams, sing his own piece, Corona, to open a programme based on the different puzzles we face in life. Williams has an impressive track record with a range of opera companies including English National Opera, Cologne Opera, and Netherlands Opera, along with many concert performances from Brazil to South Korea. This is followed by work from a different Williams, this time Vaughan Williams who wrote Five Mystical Songs based on the poems by George Herbert to explore the meaning of Easter. Familiar to many might be the final song of this set, "Let all the world in every corner sing". Walton, Elgar and Warlock also feature in what promises to be an exceptional evening.

Just one week later, fizz and canapes are likely to greet us at Stratford Town Hall before the Swan’s Principal Conductor and virtuoso clarinettist Michael Collins takes us on a journey of discovery with the Swan’s Wind Ensemble. Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, Françaix’s Sept Danses, André Caplet’s Suite Persane and Joachim Raff’s Sinfonietta will remind us why we’re so fortunate to be in the home patch of Orchestra of the Swan, a truly unique collaboration of talented musicians with an ambition to share their passion with all of us.
