Albany to host Gordon's enthralling tales of a wild life

By Barbara Goulden

Wildlife cameraman and presenter Gordon Buchanan will be will be telling tales of his 30 years behind the lens when he comes to The Albany Theatre, Coventry, for a one-night show on February 17.

The likeable animal lover who enthralled television audiences with The Elephant Family and Me, which was swiftly followed by The Polar Bear Famly and Me, will be talking about his life and work, and how he sometimes had no choice but to put himself in danger to get the shots he wanted.

The Albany, like other theatres in January, does have to rely on brief visits from touring acts and theatre groups. But there's no shortage of talent on stage, not least from the London fringe theatre groups who enjoy trying out their latest productions on Coventry audiences.

On January 13 you can see Strictly Sherlock in the Albany's smaller studio theatre or perhaps revel in the best amateur talent with the local West End Camp on January 29 and 30.

It seems murder always goes down well at the box office which is perhaps why you can also sit in on The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on February 7.

But watch out for any real-life murder on March 1 when Strictly star Giovanni Pernice comes to town....the word is his show's already a sell-out. Diehard fans on the waiting list may be tempted to take direct action.
