BBC to televise RSC plays in coronavirus crisis
The BBC has launched a Culture in Quarantine programme to keep the arts flowing into our homes while theatres, art galleries and concert halls are closed.
The venture will cover everything from theatre and dance to art and classical music, as well as how the sector is responding to the coronavirus crisis.
It will include the broadcast of six of the RSC's recent productions on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer:
Macbeth with Christopher Eccleston and Niamh Cusack; Othello with Hugh Quarshie in the title role and Lucian Msamati as Iago; Romeo and Juliet with Bally Gill as Romeo and Karen Fishwick as Juliet; The Merchant of Venice with Makram J Khoury as Shylock; Much Ado About Nothing with Edward Bennett as Benedick and Michelle Terry as Beatrice; Hamlet with Paapa Essiedu in the title role.
We don't have scheduling details yet, but we will bring you dates and times as soon as we can. Keep following elementarywhatson for all the latest theatre news during the coronavirus crisis.
