Snow Queen, Albany Theatre, Coventry, Dec 9-28.
There will be a distinct chill in the air down at The Albany Theatre next month when The Snow Queen drifts into the city for a Christmas production that lasts from December 9 until the 28th.
The inventive Ceridwen Theatre Company from North Wales - who brought us Peter Pan last year - has adapted the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale and promise enchanted forests, frozen wastelands, wizards and at least one fabulous ice palace.
And already busy on creating this winter wonderland is Dan Tilley, The Albany's technical manager, who's been working alongside Ceridwen to light and design what he hopes will be a visual treat.
Dan said: "It's fantastic to be able to create something from scratch....this Christmas show is such a great challenge for our team."
For all their professional status, the Ceridwen company is very much a family affair with Helena Devereux in the title role performing alongside her sister Nadia and brother Lyon who has adapted the story for the stage.
All will be working under the direction of their mother, Vivian Lesley Jones, who has recruited Coventry dance academy Street Mix to weave their own magic around each glittering scene as young heroes Gerda and Kai embark on a journey through the seasons to reach the fabled home of the Ice Queen.
Full of bravery and heart-warming friendship, their adventures involves encounters with a variety of characters - not only queens and princesses but robbers, wizards and even Jack Frost himself.
Throughout the run there will be matinees and school performances as well as a Relaxed performance on December 12 intended for people who may prefer a less formal audience setting in terms of sound and lighting.
