Paying Respect to the Queen of Soul
Respect To Aretha, Belgrade, Coventry, Sat, May 4.
Coventry's own singing star Letitita George brings her powerhouse voice and a top-notch band to her home city in a celebration of the life and songs of the great Aretha Franklin.
The one-night concert show is part of a national tour to celebrate the extraordinary talents of Aretha, widely regarded as the finest female soul singer of all time.
Letitia George rose to the spotlight after reaching the final knock-out rounds of the fourth series of BBC 1's The Voice UK, and has gone on to forge a reputation as one of the most passionate and hard-working soul singers around. She now presents a radio show on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire and has recently won this year's Gillard Award for Newcomer of the Year.
Few singers could do justice to the Aretha Franklin songbook, but producer Julie Sweeney believes that Letitia captures the spirit of it. "This is my most passionate project in eighteen years," she says. "Nobody will ever replace the Queen of Soul but this is our way of paying tribute to her."
