Brush with death breathed life into Jim's act
Jim Tavare: From Deadpan to Bedpan, Royal Spa Centre, Leamington, May 9 only.
Sustaining more than 30 broken bones in a near-fatal car crash may not seem a laughing matter.
But stand-up comedian Jim Tavare not only lived to tell the tale, he wrote an award-winning show about his ordeal.
Subtitled “How a quick trip to the shops changed my life forever…” the LA-based performer is bringing his inspiring survival-against- the- odds tale to Leamington.
Tavare first found fame internationally with his comedy act featuring Bassie (his double bass). He has also co-written and starred in the hugely successful The Sketch Show and appeared in Harry Potter movies.
Last year Tavare returned to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time in 20 years performing From Deadpan To Bedpan and won the ‘Spirit of the Fringe Award’.
He tells of the high and lows of spending a year in recovery. But instead of letting trauma define him, he emerged inspired, with a brand new show.
