The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, Belgrade Theatre, 5-9 March.
Ocean's Eleven meets
the Marx Brothers is the catchy tag coined by the producers of the latest farce to hit the Belgrade stage, hard on the heels (or should it be tentacle suckers) of the theatre's own Octopus Soup.
The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, from the stable that gave us The Play That Goes Wrong a year or two back, is set in the summer of 1958, when the Minneapolis City Bank is entrusted with the care of a priceless diamond. Trouble is, the bank is so corrupt that even the security guards are on the take (those pesky bankers, eh!). Meanwhile, an escaped convict is also plotting to steal the gem, with the help of his screwball sidekick, trickster girlfriend and the maintenance man.
Featuring mistaken identities, love triangles and hidden agendas, Mischief Theatre's play promises to keep us all guessing. In a town where even the most reputable can't be trusted, who will end up bagging the jewel?
