Live music nights will have Belgrade jumping

Vintage swing, rock 'n' roll, Irish hooley and 80s' pop tributes are all part of a September season of one-night-stand live music events at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre.

Oh yes, and that's not even counting the Russian State Opera's offerings of Carmen and La Triviata at the end of this month.

The more modern classics kick off on September 1 with Showaddywaddy who exercise their vocal chords across four decades of hits including Under The Moon Of Love, Three Steps to Heaven, Pretty Little Angel Eyes and perennially popular Blue Moon.

On September 11 a powerhouse performance is promised from Malcolm Pitt and the Johnny Miller Band who are all set to have audiences Dancing on the Ceiling to the Lionel Richie Songbook.

Pitt made a sizeable impact when he appeared on The Graham Norton Show and Sunday Night at the Palladium. Even Lionel Richie himself endorses Pitt's amazing musicality.

On September 12 it's the turn of Fast Love with their fast and furious George Michael tribute show waking everyone up before they go-go with hits from the days of Wham! to infinity and beyond.

By complete contrast Coventry's large Irish contingent might really relish a night of hand-clapping, foot-tapping hooley with singer and accordian player Nathan Carter supported by The Haley Sisters on September 13.

Last but not least in this eclectic mix will be a reincarnation of the Rat Pack Live: think Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Junior in the Las Vegas of the 1950s and 1960s. Remember how Davis wasn't even allowed to swim in the hotel pool...but did anyway. Think tunes like New York, New York, My Way, That's Amore and, inevitably, That's Life.
