What a (great) feeling as Flashdance returns
Flashdance The Musical, Belgrade Theatre, September 4 to 8.
She was a star of Strictly Come Dancing, winning that really rather awful glitter ball when she partnered news presenter Ore Oduba in 2014...then winning it again in a Christmas special with Harry Judd.
He's a member of the boyband A1, has been a chorister at Westminster Abbey, a finalist on Celebrity Big Brother and was once judged to be the most fanciable man in the country!
Who are they?
Well she's Joanne Clifton, one of the regular professional dancers and choreographers on Strictly, and he's the singer-songwriter Ben Adams.
Together they are bringing Flashdance the Musical to Coventry's Belgrade Theatre early next month. Tickets are likely to go fast, so don't ponder too long on whether you want to see this toe-tapping, updated revival 10 years after it first took the world by storm with wake-up songs like What A Feeling.
In 1983 the story of the young girl who works as a welder by day, but dances by night, was turned into a cult film, but the original stage show is as popular as ever.
Naturally Joanne plays Alex, the young woman welder, who finds love getting in the way of her ambitions.
After landing the key role Joanne said: "This is just another dream come true. As soon as they hear What A Feeling I think everyone in the world, whether dancer or non-dancer, will remember that iconic scene at the end of the film. I'm so incredibly lucky that I get to do that every night in this UK tour along with fabulous numbers like She's A Maniac."
Ben, who did rather well in the Norwegian version of Strictly Come Dancing, has his own solo album out and is also reuniting with the Brit-award winning boyband, adds: "As a 1980s child I was brought up on this music so I couldn't be happier playing Nick in this production."
