Sister Act puts new theatre group on song
Sister Act, Avon Valley Theatre, Rugby, March 20-24.
A new musical theatre company, based in Rugby, is bringing together all-singing and all-dancing talent from around the region for its first ever production later this month.
Interesting Theatre features performers from Coventry, Birmingham, Market Harborough and Leamington, as well as Rugby, in the cast as it stages the West End and Broadway smash hit Sister Act, based on the film starring Whoopi Goldberg. The show runs for six performances at Avon Valley School's theatre.
Director Alan Parvis said, "The cast have been working incredibly hard with choreographer Sophie Jones and musical director Jon Watson on what is a fabulously lively and uplifting show, full of wonderful gospel songs written by Alan Menken. It's so exciting to be launching a new theatre company in Rugby. We already have some fabulous groups in the town, but there's always room for more, and this one specialises in musical theatre."
The cast features a string of well-known local performers. Leah Vassell takes the lead role of Deloris, with Kathy Evans as Mother Superior (pictured) with Daisy Jones as Sister Mary Robert and Ash Bright as Curtis Wilson.
