Madly engrossing from start to finish

March 6, 2018

Mindgame, Belgrade Theatre, March 14-17.

For 'true crime' writer Mark Styler it must have seemed like a dream assignment - the chance to interview the infamous serial killer Easterman in the asylum where he is being kept.

But first he has to get past the obstructive Dr Farquhar, head of the innocuous-sounding Fairfields establishment where the killer is the star resident. And then it quickly becomes apparent that all is not as it seems.

The starting point for Anthony Horowitz's chilling psychological thriller Mindgame, which has reached the Belgrade stage on its current nationwide tour, is really the last moment when the audience has a clear view of what's going on. Horowitz, best known for television's Foyles War and New Blood, weaves such a clever web of twists, shocks and mystery that the play maintains a highly discomforting level of suspense right to the last scene.

Andrew Ryan (Mark Styler) and Birmingham-trained Michael Sherwin star in this new production which is a must-see for anyone who enjoys delving into the depths of human nature and insanity.

Tickets from the theatre box office on 024 7655 3055 or online at www.belgrade.co.uk.
