Taking a chance on Abba
Thank Abba For the Music, Bedworth Civic Hall, October 21.
Organisers at Nuneaton's local hospital radio station, Anker Radio, are hoping to raise Money, Money, Money so they can continue their work entertaining patients and staff at the town's George Elliot Hospital.
They are organising a show at Bedworth Civic Hall featuring Thank Abba For The Music – a tribute act (pictured above) who play to packed houses all over the UK and Europe.
Money raised will enable Anker Radio, a registered charity, to continue to provide music, information, requests and special shows for patients, staff and visitors. The station is on air 24/7, and last year it went online, so can now be heard worldwide. Organiser of the Abba show, Merv Lawrence, Anker's outside broadcast manager, said: “Anker Radio has been broadcasting for 38 years. We are a self funding charity. The money we raise pays for such things as licence fees. Nobody gets paid one penny. We also have a dedicated outside broadcasting team and raise 80 per cent of funding required by hiring out to carnivals, fêtes, bonfire night events and so on, and we support other charities as well. "For the patients at George Elliot we are regarded as a friend by the bedside." The two-hour Abba show captures all the magic and excitement of one of the world's most successful bands, with all their big hits, fantastic music, vocals and harmonies, replica costumes, and plenty of audience participation.
Tickets at £15 are available from the Bedworth Civic Hall on 024 7637 6707.
