Yin and Yang, you're invited to the Wedding

The Wedding, Warwick Arts Centre, May 4-6.

Love and marriage, anger and destruction are just a few of the conflicting realities that lie at the heart of physical theatre company Gecko's new show The Wedding.

Inspired by the complexities of human nature, the company's nine-strong cast of performers guide the audience through a blur of wedding dresses and contractual obligations to a dystopian world where we are all brides, but interested in divorce too.

The show, Gecko's seventh, has been two years in the making and combines movement, imagery and provocative narrative as it seeks to focus on the struggle between love and anger, creation and destruction, community and isolation.

Warwick Arts Centre is one of a number of regional partners for the award-winning company, which tours nationally and internationally, and Gecko's Artistic director Amit Lahav says, "As a company working with an international ensemble of artists, we are devoted to sharing our work with as wide an audience as possible. To have eight regional arts organisations supporting us in this commitment with The Wedding is of great significance. Gecko's ambition is to be seen as a resident rather than touring company in each place we visit: to develop and nurture a long-lasting relationship not only with the in-house team, but with the audiences who put their trust in us each time they come to experience a Gecko show."
