Shane has form when it comes to murder

Not Dead Enough, Belgrade Theatre, March 27 to April 1.

Lovable rogue Alfie Moon turns literary copper in the next main stage production coming to the Belgrade Theatre at the end of this month.

Actor Shane Richie, who played the much-loved EastEnders character for ten years, off and on, takes the role of Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in the stage adaptation of the Peter James thriller Not Dead Enough, the third of his crime novels to be brought to the stage.

Richie has form for this. Last year he starred in James' The Perfect Murder, which came to the Belgrade as part of a hugely successful national tour. This time, his co-star will be actress, model and TV presenter Laura Whitmore (Pictured above with Richie), who was a contestant in the most recent series of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Shane said of Not Dead Enough, "I'm thrilled to be asked to play one of the most interesting and innovative characters of modern times in policing. I've never read a Peter James novel and not been taken on a roller coaster journey of menace and excitement, with all the thrills and chills."

Peter James said, "Shane is a wonderful actor and I think he has that combination of warmth, toughness and deeply innate compassionate humanity that defines Roy. I'm excited by the combination of Shane and Laura Whitmore on stage together."

Not Dead Enough sees Detective Superintendent Roy Grace investigating the case of Brian Bishop, who claims he was sixty miles away, in bed, on the night his wife was murdered. As Grace continues to deal with the mysterious disappearance of his own wife, he digs deeper into the Bishop case and discovers that love can be a dangerous thing.

The stage adaptation reunites Peter James with theatre producer Joshua Andrews, the Oliver award-winning director Ian Talbot and award-winning playwright Shaun McKenna.
