Playbox young players take on Bard's comedy
All's Well That Ends Well, Playbox Theatre, Warwick. March 16-18
All's Well That Ends Well, one of Shakespeare's least performed comedies, opens the Extraordinary Voyages Season for Playbox, Warwickshire's unique young people's theatre company, on March 16.
Playbox's acclaimed Shakespeare Young Company will be staging a new version of the play in the round at their Dream Factory base in Warwick, as part of a season of world drama illuminating what it is to be human.
The play, written between 1604 and 1606, is about young people and focuses on Bertram, on the cusp of manhood, rejecting values and family for independence and freedom, and Helena, a very modern heroine, taking her destiny into her own hands.
The production is set in France and the roles of Bertram and Helena are taken by Daniel Bainbridge and Priya Edwards (Pictured), with direction from Mary King, Founding and Executive Director of Playbox.
It runs until March 18. Bookable online at www.playboxtheatre.com or by phone on 01926 419555.
